Pugsley is a wonderful guy that did not have a great start to life but has improved immensely since coming into rescue. Some of Pugsley's favorite things are playing tug with his toys and getting love from his foster parents.
Pugsley lives with other dogs in his foster home and does great with them. He is very interested in other dogs, but can be a bit socially awkward since he has not had exposure to dogs before coming to us. He does seem fearful of larger dogs at times so he probably would do best with small to medium size dogs.
Speaking of size, Pugsley is a big strong boy! He is not fat but on the larger size for a pug and very strong! He does have some fear issues around new situations and he has limited experience on a leash, so he needs someone who will be able to manage his strength. He will try to bolt if he becomes frightened. Because of this he will need a home with a secure yard, he would not do well in an apartment as he needs to continue to have a slow introduction to going out in the world for potty and introductions. Pugsley is as sweet as can be and does not have a mean bone in his body! His response to fear is definitely flight and not fight!
Pugsley loves to play with toys and tug is his favorite game. He does great at home when you leave him, but would do best if he was not left every day for long hours. He is crate trained and is doing great with his potty training as long as he is kept on a schedule.
Pugsley will need an adult only home that will be willing to continue to work with Pugsley to help socialize him and help him work through some of his anxiety. Most of this is just leftover from his prior life and we feel with patience he will become a normal well adjusted guy...he is really almost there!
