Special Pugs With Special Needs

Long-term and Hospice Care Pugs

Visit us on:
This page is dedicated to Pugs in foster care with serious medical issues that require either expensive diagnostic tests or ongoing treatment. Since the possibilities for adoption are limited for these dogs, they may be in long-term foster care. We rely on your generosity to help us care for these dogs who, otherwise, would face a bleak future. Once medical costs for a dog have been met, any extra contributions will go into the general medical fund.

To make a donation, click on the "Donate" button below each dog's description, then enter the name of the dog you wish to sponsor.

Olivia
Olivia was turned over to PPR when her owners couldn’t afford basic Veterinary care. Once Olivia was settled in to her foster home, she began to show symptoms of a liver shunt. Our Vet confirmed the diagnosis. Olivia will receive special food and medication which will hopefully stabilize her condition while other diagnostic tests will be performed to assess whether she is a good candidate for surgery to correct the shunt. Any donations towards Olivia’s care are deeply appreciated.

Belle
This sweet and affectionate one year old Pug loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and to have plenty of lap time. She has neurological symptoms and the cause remains undiagnosed. Belle has had extensive diagnostic tests including an MRI and spinal tap and we still don't have a definitive diagnosis. For the time being Belle is comfortable and happy in her foster home. She continues to receive ongoing care and treatment from our Vet and a Veterinary Neurologist. This loving little Pug will appreciate your help.

Maurice
Maurice was found as a stray along with his brother, Dylan, and brought to the shelter. The shelter called PPR to take the boys because they both have severe skin issues. Regardless of his neglected condition, he is a sweet and loving little guy. Poor Maurice’s paws were bloody and his eyes were almost swollen shut. He was diagnosed with demodex mange and eye infections. He is now receiving medication and lots of TLC in his foster home. Any donations towards Maurice’s care are greatly appreciated.

Chloe
Six year old Chloe has been in foster care for over two years. She was rescued from an owner who left her in a garage for 10 days while he was on vacation. Chloe was emaciated, diabetic as a result of starvation and, because of the diabetes, blind. We didn't believe she would survive through the first night. She is now a happy, spirited little Pug who is content in her foster home and will, most likely, spend the rest of her life there. Chloe is given two insulin injections daily and is on a special diet. She sees an eye specialist twice a year and requires three different eye drops. Chloe's ongoing medical care is quite expensive, and all donations are greatly appreciated. Chloe is always available for adoption should the perfect situation appear.

(We would like to thank those who have contributed to Chloe's ongoing medical expenses over the past two years. We are deeply grateful for your help.)

Dylan
Dylan was found as a stray along with his brother, Maurice, and brought to the shelter. The shelter called PPR to take the boys because they both have severe skin issues. Regardless of his neglected condition, he is a friendly and playful little guy. Dylan was diagnosed with demodex mange and is now receiving medication and lots of TLC in his foster home. Any donations towards Dylan’s care are greatly appreciated.

Kayce
This sweet, tiny and fragile Pug was found as stray and turned over to PPR by the shelter. Poor little Kayce is very thin, and after some tests by our Vet, it was revealed that she is diabetic. Kayce also some deformities in her front legs that may require surgery, but the most important thing right now is to stabilize Kayce’s diabetes.
Kayce has a long road ahead of her, but with continued Veterinary care and TLC from her foster home, she is safe and life can only get better for her. Your help in giving this sweet girl a comfortable life is deeply appreciated.
